Repair Parts

Although laptop computers use many proprietary components , a few industry-standard parts can easily be obtained. For example, virtually all systems use either Intel or AMD processors, which can be obtained from many sources. Also, hard disk drives are fairly standardized. Keeping in mind that a few different sizes are available, one can purchase drives for a laptop system from any place that sells 2.5-inch drives. In particular, hard drives that are in the 9.5mm-tall 2.5-inch form factor will fit in practically any system, but those in the taller 2.5-inch form factors may not fit all systems.

For more proprietary parts such as batteries, displays, hinges , drive caddies, AC adaptors, and such, you can either go to the original vendor (or manufacturer) or use one of several companies that supply these types of parts, such as:

  • Excel Computer (www.excelcomputerinc.com)

  • Impact Computers & Electronics (www.impactcomputers.com)

  • LaptopRepairco (www.laptoprepairco.com)

  • Man & Machine (www.man-machine.com)

  • Micro Notebook (www.micronotebook.net)

  • Micro Solutions (www.micsol.com)

  • National Parts Depot (www.nationalparts.com)

  • NationwideLaptop (www.nationwidelaptop.com)

  • PortableComputer (www.portablecomputer.com)

  • Spare Parts Warehouse (www.sparepartswarehouse.com)

These companies supply replacement parts for name -brand systems that are often less expensive than if you were to purchase them from the original manufacturer.
