M

Marshal
The act of making data created by one object accessible and acceptable to another object. The process of marshaling usually includes moving the data from one memory space to another memory space. The marshaling process could also include some type of data conversion. The type of data conversion depends on the requirements of both objects and the data types that they support.
Microsoft Database Engine (MSDE)
This term also appears as Microsoft Desktop Engine and Microsoft Data Engine in various publications . MSDE is a miniature form of SQL Server that enables developers to create a test database application. Microsoft designed this engine for use by one person, usually the developer; however, you can potentially use it for up to five people. The developer accesses MSDE through a programming language Integrated Development Environment (IDE) or using command line utilities. In some cases, MSDE is also used to provide access to a remote copy of SQL Server. Some third party products, such as MSDE Query, provide a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for MSDE.
