About The Authors

   

JEFF SAPERSTEIN is a well-respected marketing instructor, writer, and consultant to government, product, and service companies and NGOs. He has extensive contacts with Silicon Valley companies and business associations, and hosts tours for MBA students to meet with Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and multinational company executives.

He is the coauthor of How to Be a More Effective Account Manager (with Len Gross and John Stirling, Kentwood Publications, 1989), and Practical Approaches to Impromptu Speaking (with Frederick Isaacson, Kendall-Hunt, 1988). Jeff has written marketing columns for the San Francisco Business Times and the San Jose Business Journal .

Jeff has conducted marketing workshops for ADWEEK (trade publication for the advertising industry) throughout the U.S. He has taught marketing courses to business professionals throughout Latin America, France, and Israel. He is an instructor at San Francisco State University Graduate School of Business where he teaches marketing. He is also an instructor at the University of California at Berkeley Extension and the Stanford University Professional Development Program. He teaches a course in marketing and high technology at ESCP-EAP European School of Management in Paris.

DR. DANIEL ROUACH is strategy professor at the ESCP-EAP European School of Management based in Paris, Oxford, Berlin, and Madrid, and previously dean of the full-time MBA of the school. He is an international expert lecturer in the fields of international technology transfer, innovation, and competitive intelligence management. In addition, Daniel manages the ESCP-EAP GTI lab, the ESCP-EAP research center specializing in technology transfer and competitive intelligence. He also has managed corporate education programs, participated in executive training programs, and has been a consultant on projects for many high-technology organizations.

Daniel has actively researched and published in his expertise fields for several years . He has also created and edited numerous case studies in the context of his Ph.D. thesis on the management of international technology transfers with application in Eastern Europe. Daniel also specializes in Israeli- related topics and has written various books and articles on the Israeli economy.

His educational background includes a Doctorate de Gestion (equivalent to a Ph.D. in management) from Universit de Lyon III, an MA from Universit des Sciences Sociales Grenoble, an MBA from E.M. LYON, and an International MBA from York University Toronto. He has served on the faculty of the E.M. LYON as a senior research fellow in international business and international technology transfer.

DR. LESLIE J. SHAW , an Irish citizen resident in France, is an economist by training and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Dublin, Trinity College. A former supplier account manager at the Irish Electricity Supply Board, he now designs and runs workshops in intercultural negotiation at ESCP-EAP European School of Management in Paris.

DR. THIERRY PICQ , professor of human resources management at E.M. LYON, a leading French business school, teaches both students (master's in management and MBA) and executives in the fields of organizational behavior, team management, and project management.

Thierry was previously a consultant in the largest French consultancy company, Bossard/Gemini Consulting (for five years in Paris, and one year in Geneva), where he carried out many projects in organizational change and management development for large French and international companies.

In 1999, Thierry spent a year in Silicon Valley, as a visiting professor at San Francisco State University, doing research on human resource evolution trends. He published a book and several articles in both professional and academic reviews about high-tech firms management practices. Thierry has a Ph.D. from the Universit of Grenoble.

LI CHUN has more than nine years of working experience, including heading a European private equity investment firm in Asia, management consulting with Gemini Consulting, and project management with Mobil Asia Pacific. He has an MBA from INSEAD, and a BEng (Electrical Engineering, Honors) from the National University of Singapore.

PHILIP HEIMANN studied management at ESCP-EAP European School of Management in Paris, Oxford, and Berlin. He has worked for the consulting firm A.T. Kearney and is currently preparing his doctoral thesis on linking corporate and regional innovation systems. Philip currently resides in Berlin, Germany.

ARTI KUTHIALA holds a bachelor's degree in applied psychology from Delhi University in India. She has worked for the United States Chamber of Commerce and the San Francisco Global Trade Council. Arti is currently pursuing a master's degree in business administration at San Francisco State University, where she is also collaborating on numerous projects with the Ohrenschall Center for Entrepreneurship.

PATRICE SANTI is consultant and research associate at ESCP-EAP. He has collaborated on a wide variety of research projects in the fields of competitive intelligence and technology transfer, resulting in the production of case studies and articles. In addition to his academic activities, he has undertaken numerous field projects in marketing and competitive intelligence. He has also managed binational studies, notably including a study on France-Israel key complementary technologies. Patrice is a graduate of ESCP-EAP, where he received his European Master's in management in 1995.
