Brian Knittel has been a software developer for nearly 30 years. After doing graduate work in medical imaging technologies, he began a career as an independent consultant. An eclectic mix of clients has led to long- term projects in medical documentation, workflow management, real-time industrial system control, and most importantly, more than 15 years of real-world experience with MS-DOS, Windows, and computer networking in the business world. He is the author of Windows XP Under the Hood: Hardcore Scripting and Command Line Power , and is co-author of several other Que books including Special Edition Using Microsoft Windows editions covering XP Home, XP Professional, and Windows 2000 Professional. Brian lives in Albany, California, halfway between the tidal wave zone and the earthquake fault. Robert Cowart has written or co-written more than 40 books on computer programming and applications, with more than a dozen on Windows. His titles include Windows NT Unleashed, Mastering Windows (3.0, 3.1, 95, 98, and Me), Windows NT Server Administrator's Bible, Windows NT Server 4.0: No Experience Required , and Special Edition Using Microsoft Windows editions covering XP Home, XP Professional, and Windows 2000 Professional. Mark Reddin is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and A+ Certified PC technician. In his younger days he enjoyed tinkering with computers during the time of the early Commodore and Atari systems (with all those wonderful games ). Mark delved more seriously into computer technology during his undergraduate studies at Ball State University and has since been involved in the industry in various capacities . His experience with computers and networks has ranged from consulting to owning and operating a sales and repair shop. Additionally, he has been involved as both a technical and development editor with numerous Que publications over the last few years, including Upgrading and Repairing PCs and How Computers Work .

Don Poulton has been involved with computers since the days of 80-column punch cards. After a career of more than 20 years in environmental science, Don switched careers and trained as a Windows NT 4.0 MCSE. He has been involved in consulting with a couple of small training providers as a technical writer, during which time he wrote training and exam prep materials for Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. He has worked on programming projects, both in his days as an environmental scientist, and more recently with Visual Basic to update an older statistical package used for multivariate analysis of sediment contaminants .

In the past two years, Don has authored or co-authored MCSE Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Infrastructure (70-294), Exam Cram 2 Implementing and Administering Security in a Windows Server 2003 Network (Exam 70-299), Exam Cram 2 Security+ Lab Manual (Exam SYO-101), and MCSE/MCSA Exam Prep Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Exam 70-270). When not working on computers, Don is an avid amateur photographer who has had his photos displayed in international competitions and published in magazines like Michigan Natural Resources Magazine and National Geographic Traveler . Don also enjoys traveling and keeping fit. He lives in Burlington, Ontario with his wife Terry.

Aaron Axline is a communications expert, technical writer/editor, and IT project manager specializing in knowledge management and electronic documentation. A professional writer since 1991, Aaron has had more than 800 articles and columns published in print and online. Aaron's last assignment for Que Publishing was as technical editor on the IT Certification Success Exam Cram 2 title. His laptop is a Dell Inspiron 8100, but he secretly yearns for an Apple PowerBook G4. Aaron makes his home in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
