Starting a Server in Production Mode

 <  Day Day Up  >

Weblogic Server can be started in two different modes: development mode and production mode.

Development mode , the default mode WebLogic Server starts in, makes it easy to develop, deploy, and test an application with Weblogic Workshop. The application is automatically deployed in exploded directory format, and all other server resources, such as databases and JMS queues the server requires internally to test an application, are automatically created.

However, after development is finished, you should deploy applications to a more secure instance of the server ” production mode . To start the server in production mode, specify the following option in the startup script:

 -Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled=true

Starting the server in production mode requires manually creating all the resources the server requires internally to run the deployed applications.
