Increasingly, interaction designers are involved (sometimes without even knowing it) in service design. The introduction of new technology such as RFID tags and mobile devices into services makes this inevitable as the traditional designers of servicesthe service providers and business consultantsturn to interaction designers for their expertise in bridging the gap between technology and people. This is a good thing. Services are too often created as though the humans engaged with them are an after-thought. Applying interaction design techniques to these processes that are all around us can lead to a richer, more humanistic world. |
