Chapter 38 - Troubleshooting and Recovery

Chapter 38

Disasters occur no matter how good an operating system is. Furthermore, it is the nature of disasters to occur unexpectedly and at the most inconvenient time. This chapter focuses mainly on disaster scenarios involving a nonbooting system. Other scenarios are covered elsewhere in this book (for example, for problems with devices, refer to Chapter 6; for printing problems, refer to Chapter 8). Additional help is available at Microsoft's Help and Support center (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx). Be sure to read Chapter 34—before running into trouble—for details on disaster preparation.
