Click New Podcast Episode in GarageBand's opening window.

Select a track to record into; click the Record button; and start talking. When you're through, click Record again (or press the spacebar) to stop recording.

Click the Media Browser button and then click the Photos button to access the photos in your iPhoto Library.

Drag either the tail or head of the photo in the track to lengthen or shorten the duration of a photo.

For dynamic image control, you'll have to take it to iMovie.

Open the Media Browser, click the Audio button, select GarageBand Demo Songs, and drag a song to a new track in the workspace.
