Accessing COM Components from the .NET Compact Framework

Accessing COM Components from the .NET Compact Framework

Unlike the desktop .NET Framework, the .NET Compact Framework does not have a built-in capability for consuming COM components. However, Odyssey Software (http://www.odysseysoftware.com) has developed a product called CFCom that makes it possible for the .NET Compact Framework to access COM components. Odyssey Software offers a variety of licensing schemes for developers. For example, a shareware developer can purchase a license to use the Odyssey product for one project. Alternately, a user can purchase CFCom for access only to specific COM components, such as the popular Pocket Outlook Object Model (POOM). Of course, developers can also buy a full-fledged license by which they can access any COM component with the .NET Compact Framework, and they can ship this capability with their product. See the Odyssey Software Web site for more details.
