Summary

This chapter walked you through examples depicting all the salient aspects of Web Services Security supported by WebLogic Workshop as of release 8.1. WebLogic Workshop does a good job of providing ease of use to the customer, in an area such as security, which has been traditionally difficult for developers to use. For instance, the use of a WS-Security policy file ( *.wsse ) allows the configuration of WS-Security without any additional coding effort. At the same time, the Workshop runtime environment is J2EE compliant and runs on top of WebLogic Server, which is the leading J2EE application server in the market. However, note that this is not the only way of implementing J2EE-based Web Services Security. Because most of the relevant standards discussed in this book have not been finalized at the time of publication, the implementations across various J2EE products may vary significantly.
