Photoshop CS introduces these enhanced features that support the needs of photographers:
16-bit Editing Most features now work on 16-bit images.
Camera Raw Support The plug-in that supported Raw files made with professional digital cameras has been integrated into the program. Camera Raw settings can be applied to images selected in the File Browser.
Camera Raw supports a wider range of cameras and has controls to create profiles to anticipate color shifts caused by unusual lighting situations.
Histogram Palette This new context-sensitive palette (see Figure 2.2) enables you to see brightness information on the fly with views of the histograms of individual color channels, before and after adjustment comparisons, and cached and uncached versions.
Match Color Feature You can sample color from one selection, layer, or an entire document and apply it to another selection, layer, or document.
Lens Blur Filter This new filter produces the effect of a narrow depth of field so that some areas are in focus while other areas are blurred. The highlights of a photo can conform to the shape of a variety of camera s lens iris.
Shadow/Highlight Correction This new adjustment feature (see Figure 2.3) can be used to correct silhouetted images that are backlit or images that are washed out by a camera s flash. It s also useful for brightening up areas of shadow in an otherwise well-lit image.
Photo Filter The Photo Filter simulates colored filters used in traditional photography for color balance and color temperature. You can apply a preset color or you can specify a color from the Color Picker.
Replace Color Brush By using the Replace Color command, you can select specific colors in an image and replace them with hue, saturation, or brightness of the foreground color.
