System Requirements

Before you can use your handheld device to access GroupWise, the following requirements must be met:

  • Your GroupWise system administrator must have configured the GroupWise system to support PDA WebAccess.

  • You must have a PDA, wireless phone, or other handheld device that supports the Wireless Access Protocol (WAP). The device must have a microbrowser that uses Handheld Device Markup Language (HDML) 3.0 (or above) or Wireless Markup Language (WML) 1.1 (or above). The device must have wireless access to the Internet (or it must be able to access the Internet through a host PC to which the device can be connected). If you have a Palm OS device, you must be running a version of the Palm OS that supports Web Clipping Applications (PQAs). All versions of the Windows CE or Microsoft Pocket PC OS are supported.

  • You must have an account on the GroupWise system with a password set on your Mailbox.

NOTE

This chapter was written using a Compaq iPAQ model 3975 running Microsoft Pocket PC Version 3.0 and Microsoft Pocket Internet Explorer. Internet access was achieved using an expansion sleeve and a wireless LAN card linking to a wireless access point. Screen captures were created using the Microsoft Remote Display utility. Please note that the drop-down menu options shown in the graphics in this chapter are menu options for the Remote Control Utility and not menu options for GroupWise PDA WebAccess. Those menu options will not appear on the screen of your wireless device.
