Appendix A: Specific Access Security Information

In chapters 8, 10, and 11, I referred to specific workgroup information that you would need to work through the examples yourself. This appendix provides you with that specific Access security information.

The second purpose of this appendix is to provide you with a handy place to write down your own Access security information, because we all know what a challenge it is to manage your security information. To this purpose, I have set up a number of tables with lots of blank space so that you can enter your own information.

The security information tables that I have included in this appendix follow:

  • The workgroup file security information used in this book.

  • The workgroup file User and Group accounts security information used in this book.

  • Your own workgroup file security information.

  • Your own workgroup file User and Group accounts security information.

  • Your own database and VBA project passwords.

If there were any likelihood that someone else would borrow your book, I would encourage you to enter a hint to help you remember the security information or password so that that person doesn't get your secret information. When deciding on your hint, try to make it a word or a phrase that is vague enough so that nobody else can guess your information but clear enough that it will remind you of it exactly. Your other alternative to lending this book is to ask that someone else to purchase his or her own copy of this book. That is clearly a security practice that I would encourage wholeheartedly.

Caution

When entering security information and passwords into the tables, remember that uppercase, lowercase, and spaces are important.
