Identify Missing Requirements (Process Notes 7.1.1)

If you have built a requirements filter, then use it to drive this task. Otherwise, use the requirements template.

Remember that each requirement should already have been individually reviewed. Your concern here is to cross-check the requirements to discover any missing ones.

For each requirement type in your filter/template, do the following to discover requirements that have been missed:

  • Identify all requirements of this type defined in the requirements specification.

  • If there are no requirements of this type, and if the strategic plan for the product indicates that there should be requirements of this type, then tell the requirements trawling step that this is a missing requirement.

Compare each event/use case in your specification with each type of nonfunctional requirement. Ask this question to help you identify missing requirements: Is this type of nonfunctional requirement relevant to this use case/event?
