Armed with TraceSrv, you now have a way to start debugging your cross-language, cross-process, cross-machine applications. The requirements for TraceSrv and most of its implementation are fairly simple, but TraceSrv is one of those applications that let you get into the morass of Windows 2000 security issues. Because more and more of our development is COM-based, security is becoming a much greater part of our daily programming lives. With security adding another layer in which programs can fail in strange and subtle new ways, you need to devote some time to mastering security. As I pointed out in Chapter 1, the more you know about the operating system, the faster you'll be able to solve problems. That advice is true for security problems as well as for other, more traditional, bugs.

I encourage you to experiment with TraceSrv in your applications. Never underestimate the power of tracing—it can be one of the best debugging tools in your arsenal.
