What s Next for LIMODS?

[Previous] [Next]

I'm happy with how LIMODS version 1.1 turned out, but there's always room for improvement. I challenge you to add the following features and to come up with completely new ones.

  • LIMODS.EXE looks at one LOM file at a time. What would be very nice is if LIMODS.EXE could support multiple LOM files using a LOP (LIMODS project) file so that you could look at and manipulate an entire project's LOM files. Also, you don't need to stick with the checkable tree control interface that I used; you might find better ways for users to work with the project data when implementing multiple LOMs.
  • With LIMODS.EXE 1.1, you have to specify the files from which you want to see trace statements before you run your application, and the list remains fixed for the length of the run. LIMODS would be even more useful with some sort of communication channel between the running instances of LIMODSDLL.DLL and LIMODS.EXE so that saving a LOM file would automatically update all instances of LIMODSDLL.DLL that have hooked that module.
  • Design a better icon for LIMODS. My artistic ability extends to being able to name two of the three primary colors. The icon on LIMODS.EXE is supposed to be a funnel (just in case you had trouble identifying it).
