What This Book Is Not

That said, there are a great many things that this book is not. An abundance of fine books are out that cover all sorts of related technical subjects in tremendous detail, and that is not the purpose of this text. Let us look, then, at what else this work is not:

  • It is not a hardware treasure trove of details concerning hard disk hardware and configuration.

  • It is not a detailed rundown of every command, GUI, and tab involved in every conceivable action an administrator needs to manage disks on Windows 2000.

  • It does not go into intricate detail about all the Windows internal type of material that only the highest level technical staff can understand.

  • It is not a compendium of storage management and storage networking information.

In reality, dozens of works in existence already cover these subjects adequately. In the bibliography at the end (Appendix B), I have endeavored to list a few of these texts. They go into far more detail, and some demonstrate far more knowledge of these areas than I will probably ever come to possess.
