XP Task Manager

 < Day Day Up >

Windows Task Manager can be useful in diagnosing slows and other problems on XP. Accessed via CTRL + ALT + DEL, Task Manager now has five tabs: Applications, Processes, Performance, Networking, and Users. Two of them are particularly useful. The Applications Tab indicates which applications are running and provides an easy way to kill any of them. The Performance Tab graphs memory and CPU usage. Keep an eye on it after loading XP to see if the system really does have enough CPU power and physical memory or a large enough paging file. This feature can also help users spot such things as programs that are hogging memory or improperly coded programs that may be the cause of memory leaks. Overall, this is a good tool for debugging a specific desktop or server.
