ADSI vs. CDO for Exchange Management

This chapter shows examples that use ADSI. However, CDO for Exchange Management and even CDO for Exchange also support working with Active Directory. How do you decide which object library to use in your application? Most times, if you are just querying the directory, you should stick with just ADSI. However, if you are creating mailboxes, mail-enabling users, creating users, or implementing other sorts of Exchange administrative functions, you will want to leverage both libraries. CDO makes it easy to turn an Active Directory object into a CDO object by using type casting. You should learn both object models because you'll probably use both in your applications.
