If you have some other piece of hardware connected to your computer that Windows isn't recognizing, try running the Add Hardware Wizard. With the Control Panel in classic view, double-click Add Hardware. Click through the Wizard's screens and choose the type of device.
If the wizard detects the hardware device, double-click it to see if the wizard offers any advice. Then complete the wizard with the Next and Finish buttons.
If the wizard doesn't detect your device, click Search for and Install the Hardware Automatically. In the next screen, choose the manufacturer and model of the device. If you have a disk or files that you downloaded for the device, click the Have Disk button. For files, use the Browse button to locate them. Finally, complete the wizard.
If you still can't get a printer working, open the Printers and Faxes icon in Control Panel and click Troubleshoot Printing in the left column. A dialog box will appear asking you questions about your problem and offer suggestions on how to fix it.
