B.7 Chapter 7 Review

 < Day Day Up >

  1. What are the Core Team’s chief responsibilities during the Implementation phase?

In this phase, the Core Team is responsible for developing training and rollout plans.

  2. What is the User Training Plan (UTP) used for?

The UTP details the activities required for getting all system users trained on the new application and understanding the new work flow procedures.

  3. Why is it necessary for the Core Team to develop a cost-benefit analysis for training?

The Core Team should develop a cost-benefit analysis for the training to determine the benefits that will result from effective training and to quantify them so they can be presented during the business leader walk-through of the training program. The business leaders will certainly want to know what the estimated costs of training are and how the numbers were derived.

  4. Why is it important to define the scope and objectives of a training program?

This is really a question of cost. Training is a costly proposition, and you should be aware of that fact. To train some or all staff internally or externally is a calculated tradeoff between the quality of training the users will receive and the time and cost of having specific training for each user.

  5. Why is it important to define the training methods to be used before providing training?

Defining the training methods to be used helps the training team clarify what is to be done and helps focus the team’s efforts on delivering the right materials to the right audience in the right facilities with the right equipment.

  6. What is the benefit of having a Training Roster?

It is important for an organization to know who has had training because training equates to dollars. You want to help ensure that the organization does not waste money training those who will not benefit or do not need training. Likewise, it is imperative to train all of those in the organization who need and will use the training.

  7. What is the Equipment Installation Plan?

This document describes plans for installing hardware, software, and networking equipment at user sites and training sites, and it should also include the plans for converting equipment from old systems to the new system.

  8. What kind of dependencies should you be aware of when developing the Installation Rollout Plan?

Special care should be given to subtle dependencies that might exist, like the following:

    • Hardware-to-hardware dependencies

    • Software-to-software dependencies

    • Network-to-network dependencies

    • Hardware-to-software dependencies

  9. What is significant about the Rollout Signoff?

This is the document. It is obtained from the user or appropriate team member indicating that the product was successfully rolled out to all users. It is the culmination of a lot of people’s hard work and should be a shared reading experience across the Core Team.
