Create a Message Signature

You're no doubt familiar with message signatures used to include standard contact information at the end of email messages. Text messages can also include signatures. You may or may not decide that it's necessary to use a signature for text messages, but it's nice to know the option exists.

To establish a text-messaging signature, follow these steps:

1.

Press the Menu button and navigate over to the Options menu. Scroll down to and select the Edit Signature menu command to open the Signature screen (see Figure 9.13).

Figure 9.13. You can use the Signature screen to enable and enter a signature that's displayed at the end of every text message you send.

Note

The signature you create for use in the Messaging application is completely different from the signature for VersaMail. To learn more about VersaMail, check out Chapter 8, "Staying in Touch with Email."

2.

Enter the signature you'd like to use in the Signature Text field. Keep in mind that message signatures typically include your name, your company name, and often a phone number and/or website address. For the signature to appear in new messages you create, tap the Enable Signature check box to turn on the signature feature.

3.

To finalize the text message signature settings, tap the OK button.

If you enter a new signature and enable the signature feature, all text messages from that point on automatically include the signature at the end of the message. A text message signature is a quick and easy way to eliminate extra text entry and automatically include boilerplate contact information in every text message you send.
