I wrote this book to serve as your one-stop guide through the maze from the mainframe world to the Windows and Web world of .NET. To prevent this book from being over 1,000 pages in length, I chose to include more topics and at the same time cover less depth per topic. As a supplement, I include Web and text references for your continued learning and retraining effort. You will find these supplemental references located at the end of each chapter in the "To Learn More" section. This section is divided into the subsections "Books," "Magazines," and "Web Sites." Depending on your particular needs, some topics will deserve a more in-depth , step-by-step drill down. Additionally, for some topics, a list-oriented reference source will be helpful. These book, magazine, and Web references will go a long way toward the goal of filling those gaps. Please take advantage of them.
