Chapter 16.  Configuring DNS


The only thing we need to do now on the master is to start the servers. It will normally be started at boot-time via the file /etc/init.d/inetsvc, but we can also start it manually using the following command:

 antimony# /usr/sbin/in.named & antimony# 

This will create a file called /etc/named.pid that contains the process ID of the running in.named, which can be used to force it to reread its zone files or to kill the process (as we showed earlier).

At this point, the master is configured, so let's move on and build the slave before testing the system.
