This chapter only examines the different characteristics of 11a, 11b and 11g. The particular networking environment issues relevant to making a decision as to the make-up of specific wireless network architectures are discussed in subsequent chapters.
Don't forget post-deployment issues. Many organizations excel in designing their WLANs but give little thought to ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting. If your goal is to provide four-nines reliability, you'll probably need to invest in additional hardware and software. Read Chapter 8's section entitled "Four-Nines Reliability" for more information on management, maintenance, and troubleshooting wireless networking systems.
