Conclusion

Since the purpose of the WLAN is to exchange information and share resources, there are usually a wide variety of devices that need to access the network. However, since new client devices are hitting the market almost daily, the selection process can sometimes be confusing.

To find your way through the maze of new devices, read hardware reviews, check out what people have to say on user forums such as the ZDNet Networking/Connectivity Forum, which can be found on the ZDNet website (www.zdnet.com) or the practicallynetworked forms, which can be found at (www.practicallynetworked.com). Also check out the CNET message board which can be found on the CNET website (www.cnet.com) and news groups. Another good place for good information is friends and colleagues; ask them about their experiences with wireless equipment.

But, don't consider just the computing device and its connectivity, also use your end-users' needs as a guide in your decision-making process.

Finally, take the time to determine how you want to handle your road warriors' and teleworkers' networking needs.
