Utilization of foreign capital


Ningbo attracted US$959.51 million worth of foreign direct investment in 2000, which was an increase of 44.91 per cent over 1999 (see Table 7.38.4). A total of 550 FDI contracts were approved in the year.

Among the foreign direct investment projects, 444 were production-orientated and 106 non-production- related . Foreign direct investment came from 40 countries and regions . The top five investors are shown in Table 7.38.5.

By the end of 2000, a total of 1813 foreign invested enterprises had been put into operation. These FIEs employed around 226,100 people and their sales revenue reached RMB41.734 billion, of which an equivalent of US$1.35335 billion was generated through independent export. Reported profit was RMB295,500.
