Lianyungang lies at the middle point of the China's long coastline and in the north-east region of Jiangsu Province. It faces the Yellow Sea in the east, overlooking Korea and Japan on the other side of the sea, and connects to the Economic Belt of Longhai Lanxin in the west. Built on a vast plain with Yuntai Mountain in the centre , the city has a total area of 6,317 square kilometres and a total population of 4.5561 million.
