Xinjiang has the largest reserves of oil, natural gas and coal in the country. The huge deposits of petroleum and natural gas in Tarim and Junggar basins and the coal reserves in other areas make the region a potential energy base. There are 100 locations with a total of over 1 billion cubic metres of proven granite reserves .
