Foreign trade


In 2000, Qinghai's import and export value came to US$159.75 million, an increase of 48.11 per cent over US$107.85 million in 1999. Total export value was US$112 million, up by 28.94 per cent over US$86.86 million in 1999 and equivalent to 3.52 per cent of the provincial GDP of RMB26.3 billion(US$3.18 billion) and 0.05 per cent of the country's total export value. Export of primary and manufactured products amounted to US$17.47 million and US$94.53 million respectively, or 15.6 per cent and 84.4 per cent of the total export value (see Table 7.29.2).

Import value totalled US$47.74 million, up by 127.44 per cent over US$20.99 million in 1999. Import of primary products and manufactured products amounted to US$33.83 million and US$13.91 million respectively, making up 70.86 per cent and 29.14 per cent separately of the total import value.
