Major mineral resources include chromium, iron, copper, lead, zinc, borax, mica and gypsum. The deposits of borax and chromium rank first in the country and copper third. The region is also rich in geothermal resources. Tibet's water power potential is estimated at 200 million kilowatts, or about 29.3 per cent of the nation's total.
