In 2000, Guizhou Province 's total import and export value came to US$660.02 million, an increase of 21 per cent over US$547.61 million in 1999.
Total export value was US$420.60 million, up by 18 per cent over US$357.79 million in 1999, equivalent to 3.5 per cent of the provincial GDP of RMB99.353 billion (US$12.001 billion) and 0.2 per cent of the total export value of the whole country.
Export of primary and manufactured products amounted to US$106.73 million and US$313.83 million respectively, or 25 per cent and 75 per cent of the total export value.
The top five export markets (see Table 7.24.2) took 47.51 per cent of the total export, with Japan first, followed by Korea, the United States, Hong Kong and India.

Import value totalled US$239.42 million, up by 26 per cent over US$189.82 million in 1999.
Import of primary and manufactured products amounted to US$125.03 million and US$114.39 million respectively, or 52.22 per cent and 47.78 per cent of the total import value.
The United States ranked first among the top five import markets (see Table 7.24.3), supplying 15.64 per cent of the province's import needs. Australia took the second position, followed by Japan, India and Germany.
