Foreign trade

In 2000, the total import and export value of Jiangxi Province was US$1.624 billion, an increase of 23.61 per cent over US$1.314 billion in 1999.

74 per cent of the province's trade came from its export. Total export value was US$1.197 billion, up
32.15 per cent from US$906 million in 1999. It was equivalent to 4.96 per cent of the province's total GDP, which amounted to RMB200 billion (US$24.162 billion). It also made up 0.48 per cent of the total country's total export value.

The export value of primary goods was US$220.02 million, accounting for 18.38 per cent of the total export value. The export value of manufactured goods was US$977.34 million, accounting for 81.62 per cent of the total export value (see Table 7.14.2).

Total import value was US$426.64 million, up by 4.63 per cent from US$407.76 million in 1999, and accounting for 0.19 per cent of the total import value of the country.

Import of primary goods was US$137.02 million, accounting for 32.12 per cent of total import value. The import of manufactured goods was US$289.62 million, accounting for 67.88 per cent of total import value (see Table 7.14.3).
