Shanxi's transportation relies heavily on railways. The railway network connects the province to all the major cities of the country and channels the coal supply to the main export ports. The province has completed seven double-track electric railways extending to coastal ports such as Qinghuandao, Qingdao, Yantai and Lianyun-gang.The province has a good heavy industry base. Highways connect all the counties in the province . Civil aviation services offer direct flights to more than 28 major domestic cities including Beijing, Xian, Chengdu, Chongqing and overseas destinations such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Russia and Japan.
