Disk images are great for distributing software to a large number of computers. You can create disk images of fully configured volumes and then use these images to install the full configuration to a volume on another computer. Alternatively, you can use the images as startup volumes for computers by hosting the images on a server. A properly maintained set of disk images lets you boot systems back to a known state quickly, or configure new systems efficiently with a base set of applications and files. This lesson will show you how to create, configure, and test Apple Software Restore (ASR), NetBoot, and Network Install images. |
