When you're ready to go, you can use this book in a variety of ways. You can leaf through the chapters and tasks, locating just the tasks you want to do and following them from beginning to end. You can also read the book from start to finish, following the tasks along the way. Since Mac OS X Server uses many services, several of them are interrelated. Be sure you read the DNS section of Chapter 6, "Network Configuration Options," and all of Chapter 3, "Open Directory," to understand what you want to do with your server before you start clicking buttons. Then, head to the sections of the book that are most relevant for your needs. If all you want to do is make your Mac OS X Server a QTSS, you can skim over the DNS section of Chapter 6 and head directly to Chapter 12, "QuickTime Streaming Server." Users of Mac OS X Server in the educational field will appreciate the user, group, and computer management discussion in Chapter 13, "Client Management." Use the book the way it was intended: as a guide to the basic setup and management of Mac OS X Server. |
