Answers

1.

You must provide the IP address of the master, the root password for the master, and the directory domain administrator's name and password.

2.

The Mac OS X computer uses the server specified by the LDAP plug-in configuration. If that server fails to respond, the client will choose the first responding server for LDAP, Password Server, and KDC, while progressively querying the servers on the lists.

3.

A Mac OS X computer selects the server after the computer has restarted, the network settings have changed, or the directory server becomes unresponsive.

4.

It lists the LDAP data that needs to be sent out to the replica servers.

5.

All changes to the principals stored in the KDC on the Open Directory master will be pushed to Password Server, which will then update the member Passwords Servers. The member Password Servers will then update their local KDC.

6.

All changes to both the LDAP database and Password Server are replicated based on the replication interval set on the Open Directory master.
