What You've Learned

  • When using Open Firmware Password, all startup keys are disabled except the Option key.

  • Fast User Switching back to the Login Window is an excellent way to increase security.

  • By default in Mac OS X, every time the computer boots, it automatically logs in to the initial administrator account without requiring a password; use the Accounts preferences pane.

  • Enabling Stealth Mode disables sending denials in response to blocked packets.

  • When a user with a FileVault home folder is not logged in, the disk image of that home folder is stored in /Users/username/username.sparseimage.
