Preparing to Work

You need both Adobe After Effects and Adobe Illustrator to complete this project. If you don't have Illustrator, you can download a free tryout version of the application from the Adobe Web site at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/main.html. This project uses three Illustrator files, which you'll import from the book's DVD as footage.

To prepare for this project, do the following:

1.	Start with a new project, and save it as Ch8AnimateWithIllustrator.
2.	Choose File > Import Multiple Files.
3.	Select the file jason.ai from this chapter's folder on the book's DVD. Set the Import As option to Footage, and click Open. Click the Merged Layers option, and click OK.
4.	Press Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac OS), and click both the star.ai file and the StarBackground.ai file from this chapter's folder on the DVD to select them. Set the Import As option to Footage, and click Open.
5.	Click Done.
