There was a time, in the not-so- distant past, that the idea of taking pictures that you could not actually touch was pretty much the silliest thing you could have imagined. But more and more, consumers are using digital technology to obtain those classic snapshots that are so much a part of our lives.
Windows XP users may already be aware of the operating system's tools to link to scanners and cameras and download pictures from these devices. Office FrontPage 2003 makes effective use of these same tools to let you pull images directly from a camera or scanner from within FrontPage.
The first task is to insert a scanned image onto your Web page.
NOTE
If this is the first image you are inserting from a scanner or camera since you started your session with FrontPage, you may see your device's message and dialog boxes briefly appear before the Insert Picture from Scanner or Camera dialog box opens.
NOTE
Depending on the software that your scanner has, your control and message dialog boxes may look very different from those shown in the remainder of this section. The basic premise for all scanning software remains the same, however. Follow the instructions specifically detailed in your scanner's documentation.
NOTE
If the picture you scanned is too large for your Web page, use the procedures outlined in "Sizing Up an Image," in Chapter 3, "The Basics: Text and Images" to get the image manageable with resizing and resampling.
In principle, inserting images from a camera is essentially the same as from a scanner, although now you may be able to choose from a multitude of photos.
