Ten Inputs

 <  Day Day Up  >

The VS-1680 gives you 10 inputs that can be routed to any track you want for recording. This includes two XLR inputs, six ¼" inputs, and two digital inputs.

That gives you a total of eight analog inputs and two digital inputs. You can combine signals from the 10 inputs with the 16 tracks of recorded audio to have a total of 26 automated channels being mixed at once.

Notice there are two sets of digital input connections in the previous figure. The VS-1680 gives you the option of using two types of digital inputs ”coaxial and optical ”but you may only use one type of digital input at once. For each type of digital connector, there is an IN and an OUT. Whether you use the coaxial or optical digital inputs is up to you. I have not been able to hear any noticeable difference between the two.

Also notice that there are seven ¼" analog inputs. The input to the far left is the HI-Z guitar input. It shares the same fader with analog input 8, so that means you may only use the HI-Z guitar input or analog input 8. You cannot use them both at the same time.

The HI-Z Guitar Input Takes Precedence

If you have both inputs connected at the same time, the HI-Z guitar input takes precedence over analog input 8. In other words, you will not hear any sound from analog input 8 until you disconnect the HI-Z guitar input.
