Creating a New Song

 <  Day Day Up  >

To create a new song, press the SONG button multiple times until you see "SNG Song New?" on the display, then press the YES button. The display will show the default sample rate and recording mode, with the first prompt at the sample rate. You can change the sample rate by using the jogwheel. If you eventually want to create this song on an audio CD, I'd suggest you use 44.1kHz, as audio must exist in a 44.1kHz format before it can be burned to an audio CD. To change the recording mode, press the parameter button, and then use the jogwheel to change the selection. I recommend using either MAS or MT1, so lets choose MT1 for our new song. When you have finished, press YES. The VS will prompt you with "SNG Create NewSong?" Press YES if you want the new song created. The VS will prompt you again, this time with "SNG Create New-Sure?" Press YES again, and the new song will be created.

Once you create a song, you cannot change the sample rate or the recording mode for that song.

New Song Defaults

The first time you create a new song on your VS, the default sample rate is set to 44.1kHz, and the default recording mode is set to MT2. Each time you create a new song, the sample rate and recording mode you selected for that song now become the defaults for any subsequent new songs created within that partition.

If you ever re-initialize your hard drive, the first song you create will default back to using 44.1kHz and MT2.
