Important Reminders About Using Effects

 <  Day Day Up  >

Using effects properly seems to be the hardest concept to grasp for the new VS user . Once you understand the basics of how effects are routed, the difficulty disappears. There are many different ways to use effects in your VS-1680; however, there are some basic guidelines that you should always remember:

  • If you insert an effect anywhere in the VS-1680 (Track Mixer, Input Mixer, or Master Block), that effect cannot be used on any other tracks or inputs. The exception is when you only use one side of the effect (InsL or InsR). If you have already inserted an effect on another channel or in the Master Block, the display will tell you so.

  • If you've assigned an effect return to a track in order to print the effect, you must unassign the effect return from the track in order to have it return to the main stereo mix.

  • To print an effect, make sure it is routed through the Input Mixer and not the Track Mixer. To listen to an effect while recording without printing it, make sure the effect is routed through the Track Mixer and not the Input Mixer.
