The VS-1680 has several different audio buses used for routing audio signals to specific places. The way you use these buses will depend on what you are trying to accomplish. Recording BusThe Recording bus is used to route signals for recording. There are eight channels to which signals can be routed from the Input Mixer, Track Mixer, and effects returns. Signals assigned to the Recording bus cannot be routed to the Mix bus at the same time. Mix BusThe Mix bus has two channels (left and right) and can take channels directly from the Input Mixer, the Track Mixer, and the effects returns. Signals assigned to the Mix bus are sent to the master outputs for monitoring. The signals sent to the Mix bus cannot be routed to the Recording bus at the same time. Effects BusSignals routed to the Effects bus are sent to the optional effects board to have effects applied to them. The optional effects board has two stereo sides that allow the effects bus to have four channels (FX1 L/R and FX2 L/R). The Effects bus can be assigned signals from the Input Mixer and the Track Mixer. Signals routed to the Recording bus and the Mix bus can also be routed to the Effects bus. When two effects boards are installed, the Effects bus has a total of eight channels (FX1 L/R, FX2 L/R, FX3 L/R, and FX4 L/R). Aux BusSignals assigned to the Aux bus are routed to the aux jack to allow the monitoring of additional mixes, such as headphone mixes . There are six channels on the Aux bus. (AUX1 L/R, AUX2 L/R, and AUX3 L/R) The Aux bus can take signals from the Input Mixer and the Track Mixer. Signals routed to the Recording bus and the Mix bus can also be routed to the Aux bus. This is convenient when you want to connect an external effects device or when you want an additional output that is independent from the master out jacks .
