Previous versions of GoLive used layout grids that were actually tables when displayed by a browser. If you placed many objects onto your grid, you could have ended up with a very complex table and a copious amount of HTML code. The updated Layout Grid in GoLive CS2 is CSS-based and writes beautiful, lean <div> tags which render quickly in today's modern browsers. The cool thing is that you can convert your old table-based grids from any previous version of GoLive into the new CSS based Layout Grids very easily. Open a document that uses an old table-based grid in GoLive CS2. In the upper right corner of the grid is a little icon that indicates whether the grid is table-based or CSS-based . To switch from one type of grid to the other, control-click (Mac) or right-click (Windows) on the grid and then choose either Convert to Table based Grid, or Convert to CSS based Grid (Figure 47). Figure 47. You can easily convert a table-based grid into the new CSS-based Layout Grid. |
