TIP 38: Inserting Objects with Menu Commands

A quick and easy method for inserting objects onto a page is to Control-click (Mac) or right-click (Windows) in the Layout Editor and choose an object from the Insert Object menu. The object will be placed at the cursor's insertion point and is automatically selected, which means you can immediately set the objects attributes in the Inspector palette (Figure 38).

Figure 38. You can easily and quickly insert an object right where you want it using menu commands.

Getting to Know Objects

Not all the objects in the Objects palette can be added to the Layout Editor. For example, Site and Diagram objects only work in the Site and Diagram windows. Similarly, the QuickTime and SMIL objects only work in the QuickTime and SMIL Editors.

The Insert command can also be found in the Special menu, which means you can apply a keyboard shortcut to frequently used objects (see Tip 2). After you've used the Insert command, GoLive shows the ten most recently used objects at the top of the list.
