TIP 36: Understanding the Head and Body of a Web Page

If you've taken the time to learn the basics of HTML, you'll remember that every page is divided into two main areas: the head and the body. The head section is at the beginning of the page and is invisible to the user unless they view the source code. The head is where you place things like meta tags for search engine optimization and certain kinds of JavaScript Actions.

Head Objects Snap to Head Section

GoLive is so smart that if you try to place head objects such as meta tags or refresh tags in the body of the Web pages, they will automatically be moved to the head section of the page.

Click the triangle in the upper left corner of the document window to reveal the head section (Figure 36). Place objects such as meta tags in the head of the page by dragging and dropping them from the head section of the Objects palette.

The body is the visible area of the page where you place all the content your Web site visitors will see. Everything below the head section is called the body, and this is where you place tables, layers, text, images, and so on.
