TIP 236: Installing Extensions

A few extensions might include their own installers, but most require you copy them to the correct location in the GoLive application folder. Follow the instructions below to install extensions:

1.

Install GoLive CS2 if you haven't done so already.

2.

Copy the folder for the new extension, such as Smart Forms 2.0, into the Adobe GoLive CS2:Modules:Extend Scripts folder (Figure 236). If you look inside an extension folder, you'll notice there's always a file called Main.html and there might also be a few other script or image files. Don't copy these individual filesalways install the entire extension folder.

Figure 236. Copy the new extension folder into the Extend Scripts folder and relaunch GoLive.

3.

Quit and relaunch GoLive to enable the new extension.

Watch for New Commands

Most extensions add new commands to the Special, Extensions, or Window menus, but consult the instructions that came with your new extension for details.

See Tip 186 for step-by-step instructions on installing new JavaScript actions.

You can check to ensure that the newly installed extension is turned on by opening Preferences > Modules and scrolling down the list until you see the name of the extension. If there is no checkmark next to the name of the extension, enable it and restart GoLive.

To temporarily disable an extension, open the application preferences, select Modules on the left, and in the list of extensions on the right uncheck the ones you want to disable. Your new configuration will be active after you quit and relaunch GoLive.
