TIP 217: Connecting to Multiple Servers

Let's face it: connecting to an FTP server really isn't that big of a deal. Lots of people do it every day. However, one thing that makes GoLive's server connectivity really outstanding is the ability to connect to and synchronize with multiple servers at the same time. That's right, you can switch from one server to another with a single click. Make sure you have multiple servers assigned in the Publish Server pane of the Site Settings as seen in Figure 217a.

Managing Staging and Production Servers

Many Web designers upload their sites first to a staging server for review and then upload the same files to a production server after they've been approved. GoLive's ability to connect to multiple servers makes this tedious workflow much easier.

When you're connected to a server you can easily switch to a different server by choosing a different server nickname from the list in the Site > Publish Server > Active Server submenu (Figure 217b).
