30.3 FREQUENCIES OF OPERATION

A number of frequency bands are allocated for paging services. The following bands are generally used for paging.

Different frequency bands are allocated for beep, numeric, and alphanumeric pagers and voice pagers. The bandwidth requirement is higher for voice pagers.

For beep, numeric, and alphanumeric paging systems, the following frequency bands are used:

  • 32.02-35.68 MHz

  • 43.20-43.68 MHz

  • 152.51-152.84 MHz

  • 157.77-158.07 MHz

  • 158.49-158.64 MHz

  • 459.025-459.625 MHz

  • 929.0125-945.9875 MHz

For voice paging systems, the following frequency bands are used:

  • 152.01-152.21 MHz

  • 453.025-453.125 MHz

  • 454.025-454.65 MHz

  • 462.75-462.925 MHz

Note 

Paging systems operate in the VHF and UHF bands so that large service areas can be covered.
